Learn how to lead, deliver and sustain organisational transformation in the digital age. This 3-day ITIL® Transformation (Version 5) certification course provides a practical, scalable framework for managing coordinated change across all levels of an organisation, from targeted practice improvements through to enterprise-wide digital transformation programmes.
ITIL® Foundation (ITIL 4 or Version 5) is required to attend this course.
ITIL® is the world's leading best practice framework for digital product and service management, adopted by over 3 million professionals, trusted by 50,000+ organisations, and used by 82% of the Fortune 500.
ITIL® Version 5 is the latest evolution of the framework, designed for AI-driven, digital-first organisations. It expands ITIL® from IT service management to full digital product and service management, guiding organisations in managing digital products, services, customer experience and end-to-end digital operations in a structured and future-ready way.
Organisations constantly change, and they constantly change how they use and manage technology. This ongoing state of flux requires a genuine capability to identify, implement and sustain improvements across governance systems, management practices, delivery models and culture. Without that capability, transformation efforts stall, investments fail to deliver, and change fatigue sets in.
ITIL® Transformation provides a practical, adaptable framework for organisational change at any scale, from relatively contained improvement initiatives to major cross-functional transformation programmes. It is applicable to any version of ITIL® guidance and compatible with other frameworks, bodies of knowledge and models your organisation already uses.
A core insight of the course is that transformation complexity varies significantly: predictable contexts allow for detailed planning, while unpredictable ones demand adaptive approaches. The course structures transformation work into four interconnected layers, governance, positioning, execution and learning which together connect strategic direction, contextual understanding, implementation and continual improvement into a coherent, navigable whole.
ITIL® Transformation is the only module required across all three ITIL® (Version 5) designation streams - ITIL Managing Professional, ITIL Strategic Leader and ITIL Practice Manager. The exam only needs to be taken once, and the achievement applies across all designations. It also serves as the transition pathway for ITIL 4 practitioners:
ITIL 4 Strategic Leaders → ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5)
ITIL 4 Practice Managers → ITIL Practice Manager (Version 5)
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Explain core ITIL® concepts and how they support organisational transformation
Describe transformation layers, stages, patterns and the different contexts that shape which approaches are appropriate
Explain how tools, methods, governance models and measurements are applied in transformation work
Explain how AI, DevOps and project management integrate with ITIL® to enable effective transformation and delivery
Explain how lessons learned are incorporated into continual improvement within the ITIL Value System
ITIL® Transformation is designed for anyone working in or alongside service management, digital product management or digital transformation. It is particularly relevant to:
Transformation sponsors and owners - leaders responsible for initiating and owning change at an organisational or programme level
Transformation delivery professionals - practitioners responsible for executing transformation work who need a structured understanding of what is required at each stage
Professionals impacted by transformation - those whose roles or ways of working are changing, who need to understand the support and engagement they can expect
Consultants and advisors - professionals supporting client organisations through transformation initiatives
It is also the recommended transition module for holders of ITIL 4 Strategic Leader and ITIL 4 Practice Manager designations moving to Version 5.
ITIL 4 Foundation or ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) certification is required to attend this course.

To achieve ITIL Practice Manager (Version 5): Foundation + Practice + Transformation
To achieve ITIL Managing Professional (Version 5): Foundation + Product + Service + Experience + Transformation.
To achieve ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5): Foundation + Strategy + Transformation.
To achieve ITIL Master: All three designations.
Transformation is the core course of the ITIL® (Version 5) scheme. Every designation, whether focused on managing products and services, leading strategy, or managing practices requires the ability to implement and sustain organisational change. This is reflected in the unique cross-stream status of the Transformation module.
ITIL® Transformation serves as the transition pathway for both designations. Completing Transformation allows ITIL 4 Strategic Leaders to achieve ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5), and ITIL 4 Practice Managers to achieve ITIL Practice Manager (Version 5), without needing to complete the full set of new modules. Contact us to discuss your specific pathway.
ITIL® Strategy focuses on developing and directing organisational strategy in dynamic environments. ITIL® Transformation focuses on executing and sustaining the change needed to implement that strategy. Together they form the ITIL Strategic Leader (Version 5) stream, strategy without transformation capability leaves intent undelivered; transformation without strategic clarity risks change for its own sake.
