Description

When IT and the business aren't aligned, everyone loses. This simulation changes that, in one day. Grab@Pizza™ is an immersive, hands-on business simulation that puts your team in the driving seat of the IT department for one of the world's largest pizza chains.

Working through six rounds of high-pressure business decisions, participants experience firsthand what it takes to align IT capability with business strategy and what happens when you don't.

Combining the principles of ITIL®, ITSM, Business Relationship Management (BRM) and COBIT in an engaging, competitive scenario, this is one of the most powerful team learning experiences available for IT organisations.

Delivered by ITSM Hub's expert facilitators at your premises or via virtual classroom, this workshop is fully customisable.

Why experiential learning?

The gap between knowing ITSM frameworks and applying them under real business pressure is where most organisations struggle. Grab@Pizza™ closes that gap.

Participants don't just discuss IT/business alignment, they live the consequences of their decisions across six business months, seeing in real time how their choices affect costs, customer satisfaction, revenue and market share.

It's the kind of learning that sticks and that teams talk about long after the day is done.

About the simulation

Developed by GamingWorks, global creators of serious business simulations trusted by organisations worldwide, Grab@Pizza™ places your team at the helm of the IT department of Grab@Pizza, one of the world's largest pizza companies.

The market is highly competitive. The business needs to design new products, drive marketing and sales initiatives, and achieve high operational excellence. IT is central to making it happen. Your challenge: align IT capabilities with business demands, and organise your team so the business can hit its targets for reducing operational costs, growing revenue and market share, and increasing customer satisfaction.

Across six rounds - each representing one business month, your team will:

  • Analyse IT management process performance and identify gaps

  • Identify business requirements and translate them into IT service demands

  • Make resource, workload and priority decisions under realistic constraints

  • Calculate IT costs and make investment decisions

  • Plan application development and manage the Change Calendar

  • Propose and implement improvements to close the gap between IT performance and business needs

What will your team experience and learn?

Core outcomes include:

  • Delivering agreed IT services with limited budget and people — exactly as in real life

  • Minimising IT costs by optimising people, processes and supporting technology

  • Using suppliers effectively and managing third-party dependencies

  • Prioritising IT investment and workload across maintenance, support, innovation and development

  • Translating business requirements into the right IT services

  • Managing application development and change planning

  • Reducing business risk caused by availability, capacity and security shortfalls

  • Demonstrating and realising measurable business value from IT

Framework connections, tailor the focus to your needs

This simulation is highly versatile and can be run with a specific framework focus depending on your organisation's priorities.

ITIL® & ITSM Run alongside ITIL® training to give participants the opportunity to apply guiding principles, CSI practices and ITIL® Practitioner tools in a real case organisation. Ideal as a follow-on from ITIL® 4 Foundation or as a CSI and change management initiative.

COBIT Use alongside COBIT Foundation or implementation training to create awareness and buy-in. Explore the goals cascade, RACI responsibilities, benefits realisation, resource optimisation and risk optimisation using COBIT to assess capability and agree priorities between rounds.

Business Relationship Management (BRM) Run alongside BRMP or CBRM training, or use within your own BRM team to promote BRM across the organisation. Explore how to move from 'order taker' to 'strategic partner', understand the role of BRM as Connector, Orchestrator and Navigator, and surface value leakage in your own service environment.

Who should attend?

This simulation suits any IT team that wants to improve business alignment and service value. It's particularly powerful for:

  • IT Service Management teams at any level

  • Software development and operations teams

  • Business Relationship Management teams and practitioners

  • IT leaders, managers and directors looking to build commercial awareness in their teams

  • Mixed business and IT groups exploring the IT/business relationship

  • Teams that have completed ITIL®, COBIT or BRM certification and want to put it into practice

No prerequisites. A basic understanding of ITSM is helpful but not required. The simulation works best when combined with or following certification training.
